Want to visit us??

Here is some useful information about airports, train tickets, car rental and all other important things to know..

Where we live:

2 Kingswood Cottages

Tag Lane

Hare Hatch

Wargrave

Berkshire RG10 9SX

United Kingdom

Have a look!:

Find us on the map with www.multimap.com, enter our postcode RG10 9ST in the search field.

We live 30 miles west of London-Heathrow Airport, i.e. about 45 miles west of the London City Centre.

The next two villages are Wargrave, a pittoresque old english village on the borders of the river Thames and  Hare Hatch, a group of about 10 houses and no real centre (at least we haven't found it yet). The Kingswood Cottages (the English like for some reasons to give there houses important sounding names..) is somewhere in between Hare Hatch and Wargave out in the country!

The next bigger towns are Reading and Maidenhead, not really exiting, but quite nice for shopping, cinemas and food..!

Arriving by plane:

London has 5 international airports:

Heathrow

Situated West of London, 30 miles away from where we live

Just a few miles away from our office (where we sometimes work if we are not on customer site)

Most frequent airport

Unfortunately usually the most expensive flights compared to other London destinations

The only airport where we can offer you a shuttle service!!

Best choice, if you are not planning to rent a car or only stay for a few days (since we can get and bring you back to your fligth)

Links into London either via Heathrow express (single trip costs about 13 GBP!!) or underground (cheap!)

More infos about Heathrow: www.baa.co.uk

Stansted

Situated in the far North-East of London close to Bishop's Stordford (oder so aehnlich)

About 90 miles away from where we live

Cheap flights with Lufthansa and Ryanair normally fly to Stansted

A trip from Stansted to us can take between 1,5 hours and 3 hours since you have to use the London Orbital M25, used by 14 Million Londoners at the same time..!

Please don't expect us to pick you up there..!

Flights to Stansted make sense of if you want to stay longer than only for a weekend and hire a car

It can be less expensive to fly to Stansted + rent a car than fly to Heathrow without a car!

Link from Stansted into London centre via Stansted express (costs probably as much as Heathrow express)

Unfortunately no direct link between us and Stansted - only via London city (Stansted express to Liverpool street - Underground to Paddington- Train to Twyford)

More infos about Stansted: www.baa.co.uk

Luton

Situated in the North of London

Approximately 70 miles away from where we live

Again you have to use the M25

Sorry, haven't got any information about flights to Luton

City

Situated in East of Central London, just next to the Docklands and the MIllenium Dome

Great to get into the centre of London but I don't think it is an real option to visit us, I've never senn any cheap flights going to City Airport

Gatwick

Situated in the south of London

About 60 miles away from us - also via M25..

Link into central London exists (might be Batwick express, don't know)

Direct train connection to Reading and from Reading to Twyford

Mostly used for charter holiday flights .. so I don't believe there are a lot of cheap flights from Germany to Gatwick.

Arriving by train:

Never tried - but that doesn't mean it is impossible!

Find timetables in www.deutsche-bahn.de

Arriving by car:

Local:

From London: M4 direction "South Wales" -->  Junction 8/9 A404 direction Henley / High Wycombe --> Junction 9b A4 direction Reading --> pass several round-abouts and the village Knowl Hill --> pass the first sign to "Upper Wargrave" --> turn right at the second sign to "Upper Wargrave" --> that's Tag Lane --> straight until sign "Kingswood House Stables", turn left! Small houses on the end of the small street are the Kingswood Cottages.

"Oversea":

We'll test it in 3 weeks, tell you more then!

The only problem seems to be the proces of the ferry / Eurotunnel

Check it out yourself in www.ferrysavers.com or www.ferrybooker.com

How to get from us into central London:

The easiest way to travel to London is by train. The next train station is in Twyford, which is about 3 miles away from where we live. There's a train almost every 30 minutes directly to Paddington Station. The trip takes about 45 minutes. The only thing about it is the price: it varies between 4 to 16 pounds for a return trip.

There is no official price list available, but we believe the pricing is dependent on the following:

The most expensive travel time is Monday to Friday before 9:30 a.m. (16 GBP return)

Groups of 3 or 4 people get a special price (4 people return 4 GBP return)

Timetables on the net: www.rail.co.uk

The only problem is that you cannot walk from us to the train station in Twyford. Oh, of course you could but it takes about 45 minutes..! There is no bus and I don't know how much a taxi would cost.

No problem at the weekends, we can drive you.

No problem in during the week: we can drive you in the early morning but it will cost the high price then for the train since it would be before 9:30 a.m.

The other option is - if we work in the SAP office - to drive with us to heathrow airport and take the tube (Underground) into central London. Only problem: we normally don't work in the office since we are on customer site. But this can change .. dependent on when you come. So check again!!

What to see in the area EXCEPT London:

Unbelievable - but there is more!

Cycling and Walking in the country

over 100 golf courses
